The Richard Jefferies Society was founded in 1950 and has about 300 members around the world. Most activities are based at Coate, in Swindon at Jefferies' birthplace and home, now a Museum open to the public for free on the second Wednesday of the month throughout the year (10am-4pm) and the first and third Sundays from May to September (2-5pm).
Protect Jefferies Land from development.

The Museum is open to the public on the first and third Sundays of May to September (inclusive)from 2-5pm and the second Wednesday from 10am to 4pm throughout the year. A writers group also meet on the same Wednesdays. Entrance is free. The house and garden can be explored and volunteers from the Society will be there to provide information and sell souvenirs, books and leaflets.
Jefferies Land video: a VHS video lasting about 30 minutes that visits places in the Coate area with appropriate quotes from Jefferies’ writing. The Coate Museum, Richard Jefferies' birthplace at Coate, will be open (no charge) on the first and third Sundays of the month from May to September inclusive.
The house and garden are open from 2p.m. - 5p.m. on these days, and volunteers from the Society will be there to provide information and sell souvenirs and leaflets. There is free parking in Coate Water Country Park.
