John Masefield (1878-1967) cadet in Liverpool 1891-94

Wilfred Owen (1893-1918) Educated at the Birkenhead Institute and at Shrewsbury Technical School, worked as a pupil-teacher at Wyle Cop School

E.J. Oxenham (1880-1960) born at Southport. There must have been friends or relatives in the Southport area, or at least some reason for EJO's return later in her life, since she used the Waterloo/Crosby area of Liverpool for the setting of two of her books

Barbara Pym (1913-1980) She studied at the Huyton College, in Liverpool, 1925-1931.
