3. Proofreading UK

Have you written a novel? A biography? An autobiography? Maybe you haven’t yet put pen to paper but have an idea for a book and you’ d like someone to write the book on your behalf. Whatever your requirements, I can help. I offer a wide range of proofreading, copyediting and miscellaneous writing services. I am a philosophy graduate and former teacher, having worked extensively as a freelance proofreader for high-profile publishers such as Trafford, Writersworld and Pegasus.

Of course, if your book hasn’t yet been published then you won’t yet have started earning money from its sales. That being the case, you may not yet be in a position to be spending lots of money on having your book proofread, even though you appreciate how important it is to do so. Well, don’t worry. My services are affordable. Extremely affordable. See for yourself by having a quick glance at my website. Just a click of your mouse and you may find you’ve taken the first step towards realising your dream of becoming a published author.

I am a freelance proofreader and copy-editor currently available for additional assignments, and would be glad to offer help if they ever have any need for such services.

To give you a little background on myself, I am 38 years old. I have an MA degree in German and Norwegian from the University of Cambridge and I have studied English Language to "A" level standard. I have also gained a Certificate in Proofreading and Editing Skills from Maple Publishing and achieved a Pass with Merit in the London Publishing Training Centre?s course in Basic Proofreading. I also translate from German and Norwegian and write English abstracts of articles from art and history journals (ART bibliographies Modern and ABC-Clio) in my three languages. My full CV is of course available should you wish to see it.

My early career was in administration for the Church Commissioners for England in Westminster, and this involved writing and proofreading reports and Orders in Council. Following that I spent eight years working part-time for the Bristol public library service while my children were small. My clients include a local school, the Diocese of Bristol, Scripture Union, the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, the Liberal Democrat Party and two London-based translation agencies. I have also edited and provided a critique of two typescripts of novels by aspiring authors.

I have a well-equipped home office including an IBM-compatible PC. On a personal level I am conscientious and reliable and take pride in offering a professional service. I should of course be happy to undertake any test of my skills that you may wish to set.
